At Kibikaku, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your data when you use our kanji memorization platform. We comply with major data protection laws, including the GDPR (Europe) and LGPD (Brazil).

Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your username (does not need to be your real name), email address, and password.

Payment Information: Subscriptions are handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details; we only receive confirmation of payment and limited transaction data for billing purposes.

Study Data: We store your flashcards, review history, writing performance, and progress statistics to provide the spaced repetition algorithm and track your learning.

Usage Data: We collect basic information via Google Tag Manager (IP address, browser type, and pages visited) to improve our service and monitor performance.

2. How We Use Your Information

Providing the Service: To manage your account, track your kanji learning progress, and maintain the platform's features.

Security: We use Cloudflare Turnstile to verify you are a human user and prevent automated bot attacks.

Legal & Billing: To process payments and comply with financial and tax regulations.

Communication: To send you important service announcements, respond to your inquiries and support requests, notify you about changes to our terms or policies, and, with your consent, send you promotional communications about new features or offers.

3. Data Sharing

We never sell your personal information. We only share data with trusted providers necessary for the service:

Supabase: Securely stores your account and study data.

Stripe: Processes your monthly, annual and lifetime subscription payments.

Cloudflare: Ensures site security and prevents bot abuse.

4. Your Rights and Choices

Regarding your data, you have the following rights:

Access and Correction: You can view and update your account details directly in your profile settings at any time.

Deletion: You can delete your account via the Account Settings. When you click delete, your personal information and study records are immediately and permanently removed from our active database.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including HTTPS/TLS encryption for data in transit and encryption for data at rest. While we strive to protect your data, please remember that no method of internet transmission is 100% secure.

6. Data Retention

We keep your data only as long as your account is active.

Upon account deletion, your data is removed from our systems immediately.

Please note that certain payment transaction records must be retained in Stripe for a specific period as required by financial and tax laws.

7. International Transfers

As we use global infrastructure (Supabase and Stripe), your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States and Brazil. We ensure all our providers maintain high standards of data protection.
